Thinking outside the bottled water

The United Nations warns us that by 2025, two-thirds of the world's population – more than five billion of us – will lack access to water. How is it possible that the water crisis could explode within a single generation? There are many causes – such as pollution and overuse – and corporations have contributed to them all. Challenging Corporate Control of Water One of the most visible examples of corporate control of water is bottled water. It is the fastest growing sector of the US beverage market and just three corporations – Coke, Pepsi and Nestlé – make up over half of the US bottled water market. These corporations are privatizing our water, bottling it and selling it back to us at prices hundreds, even thousands of times what tap water costs. They have turned a shared common resource into a $100 billion global market – and one of the world's fastestChallenge Corporate Control of Water growing branded beverages.
