Wisconsin is one of four states whose energy programs have been recognized with national awards by the Clean States Energy Alliance.
The state Focus on Energy program was honored for its biogas digestion program, which provides technical assistance and financing for farmers looking to develop anaerobic digesters that convert cow manure into energy.
"Focus on Energy deserves wide recognition for tapping into an underused renewable resource in a way that not only generates clean energy but also helps farmers financially and improves the environment," said Mark Sinclair, CESA executive director.
The award was presented earlier this week.
