The 90-minute documentary, Vanishing Of The Bees, examines the theory that use of the "neonicotinoid" group of pesticides could be responsible for the dramatic fall in numbers of the insect, a vital pollinator of crops.
A number of factors including disease, a lack of suitable food sources in the countryside, pesticides and climate change have been blamed for the declines in honey bees and their wild cousins.
A recent review of current research by Buglife, which suggested bees eating nectar and pollen containing the commonest of the chemicals foraged less and produced fewer offspring, led to calls by the wildlife charity and other organisations for a temporary ban on neonicotinoids and a review looking at whether the pesticides are harmful to pollinators.
But the Government says there is no evidence of an unacceptable risk to bees from the chemicals. Read more at Telegraph
