Fatal work injuries rose in 2010, new data show. #safety

The Department of Labor reported today that 4,690 U.S. workers suffered fatal injuries in 2010, a 3 percent increase from 2009. The higher number in part reflects a string of high-profile disasters in 2010, including the Upper Big Branch mine explosion in West Virginia and BP's Deepwater Horizon blowout in the Gulf of Mexico.
