Heavy rains resulted in the dumping of untreated sewage in two areas Sunday, Bill Graffin, a spokesman for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, said this morning. An estimated 140,000 gallons of sewage were dumped into Lake Michigan at Bay View Park beginning at about 8:30 p.m. The area has had problems in the past and a $10 million, two-year sewer expansion project is expected to begin this fall. Graffin said the rainfall in the area was estimated at close to 3 inches in a very short time. The second dumping occurred in the Honey Creek at Wisconsin Ave. in Wauwatosa. An estimated 50,000 gallons were dumped at about the same time Sunday. Rainfall estimates were between 3.13 and 3.47 inches. Graffin said there were reports that soil and seed in the flood management control area of Hart Park had washed out.
