New liquid may stop bleeding during surgery

A team of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Hong Kong University are working on high-tech liquids to control bleeding during surgery. Tests on hamsters and rats have shown bleeding stops almost immediately after applying the biodegradable liquid made of protein fragments to wounds in different types of tissue.  "In almost every one of the cases, we were able to immediately stop the bleeding," Ellis-Behnke said.
