Australia to Help Convert Cars to Petroleum Gas

The right track...
Australia will take advantage of its large reserves of the fuel and its lower price over gasoline. A six- cylinder car traveling 15,000 kilometers (9,300 miles) a year would reduce its annual fuel bill by A$1,400 using LPG, according to the Australian LPG Association.

The price of LPG was about 40 percent cheaper than unleaded gasoline last month, Howard said, helped by lower taxes.

Gasoline costs have risen 19 percent this year to a record A$1.38 a liter in mid-June, equivalent to about $4 a gallon. The average price was A$1.36 last week.
