Bayer CropScience AG notified U.S. officials that trace amounts of an unapproved biotech rice variety were found in commercial supplies of long-grain rice. Agriculture secretary Mike Johanns said information from Bayer indicates the rice is safe for human consumption, and Bayer said the company is "cooperating closely" with the government.
