Group Says New Texas Coal Power Plants Would Kill 240 People a Year
The 11 new coal-burning electric power plants proposed for Texas by the TXU utility company would pollute enough to cause 240 additional deaths from respiratory disease each year, a coalition of environmental groups said. TXU and the state's environmental office disputed the findings, although environmentalists said they used EPA methods to arrive at their numbers. Randy Lee Loftis reports in the Dallas Morning News 11/21/06.
