A team of British drivers drove a UK-spec right-hand drive XF 2.2 diesel from New York to Los Angeles, and averaged 52.4 mpg US (62.9 mpg Imperial, 4.5 L/100km) over the 2,884-mile trip, making the XF 2.2 the most efficient Jaguar yet.

Driven by independent testers David and Alexander Madgwick, the XF 2.2 was a standard UK registered, right-hand drive vehicle. The car maintained an average speed of 53 mph, while encountering a multitude of real-life scenarios including the busy roads exiting New York and, towards the end of the trip, entering Los Angeles, road works, high winds and a climb to 7,275 feet above sea level.
