Some Chevrolet Volt owners are deciding to not drive the extended-range vehicles in wake of a federal investigation into two post-crash-test batteries catching fire, officials say.
According to General Motors Co.spokesman Greg Martin, a “couple dozen” of the nearly 6,500 Volt owners have requested the automaker buyback their car; and another couple dozen have decided to participate in the Detroit automaker’s free loaner program.
“It’s a variety of reasons,” he toldMLive.com Monday in regards to the customers’ reasons for wanting sell the vehicle or receive a loaner.
