Rare earth metal shortage a 'ticking time-bomb' - Telegraph

Accounts PricewaterhouseCoopers said business leaders in sectors including automotive, chemicals, and energy fear they will be the hardest hit as commodities such as Beryllium, Cobalt and Flurospar become scarcer. ... PwC's global sustainability leader, said: "Put simply, many businesses now recognise that we are living beyond the planet's means. New business models will be fundamental to the ability to respond appropriately to the risks and opportunities posed by the scarcity of minerals and metals."
Publication of the report comes several weeks after China's biggest producer of rare earths suspended production for one month in order to stimulate the market.
