News about solar power in Arizona has recently been dominated by pet food and potato chips. But, this week’s Arizona solar headline goes to the Town of Prescott Valley, which has recently announced that it is installing solar energy systems at its municipal water pumping stations and wastewater treatment plant. The project, which will consist of four separate systems, will be Prescott Valley’s largest solar energy project to date.
With a total capacity of 1.48 megawatts (MW), the four systems are expected to generate 2.7 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year, saving the town an estimated $1.5 million in electrical costs over the next 25 years.
“We are excited to help Prescott Valley to simultaneously achieve its sustainability objectives and reduce their electricity costs, without having to risk their own capital,” said Smart Energy Capital Managing Partner Brian Weisman. “Smart Energy and Wilson Electric are proud to be supporting the town’s renewable energy efforts.”
