Nissan Leaf Electric Car Sold Out i.e. VOLT = DOA

The new Leaf electric car is not scheduled to arrive at dealerships until January 2011, and that model year is already sold out. CEO Carlos Ghosn has not yet decided if the automaker will continue to take preorders for the electric auto. T After speaking to the Detroit Economic Club, CEO Ghosn said that the company is very happy with the level of advance orders.

The cars are priced at $32,780 with buyers receiving a federal tax credit of $7,500

Last week Nissan broke ground in Smyrna, Tennessee on a plant that will produce Leaf batteries and, in the future, batteries for other Nissan models. Beginning in 2012, the electric Leaf will be assembled in Tennessee.

Nissan has set the goal of selling half a million electric cars worldwide beginning in 2013.

According to CEO Ghosn, Nissan was only interested in manufacturing a car that was all-electric, without any gasoline at all, because they wanted a car with zero emissions. Read more at Source

I did not think GM could make more mistakes with the volt - I was wrong.
Just as Nissan and China announce they both have plans to invest billions in the U.S. and open massive plants in America... 

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that GM will indeed build the Chevy Volt in China, but that all the Volts built in China will remain in China.
