Canada Becomes First Country in the World to Ban BPA.
The Canadian government has announced that it will add bisphenol-A (BPA) to its official list of toxic substances.Canada is now believed to be the first country in the world to ban BPA outright. Chemicals on the toxic substances list cannot be used in consumer products sold or manufactured in Canada. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) maintains that BPA is safe, but the Canadian government rejected that on the grounds that the ACC did not "bring forth any new scientific data or information with respect to the nature and extent of the danger posed by bisphenol-A. " Eight U.S. states have banned BPA from use in certain children's products. - Via David Schaller
