Study reflects sunshine vitamin can melt the fat

The authors investigated whether correction of hypovitaminosis D in a cohort of overweight adults can improve the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components. Adult nondiabetic Saudis were advised to expose themselves to sunlight for set periods twice a week and to follow a vitamin D-enriched diet. Mean serum 25-OHD level increased and there was a concomitant significant decrease in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome.
